Now
This page is a snapshot of what has my attention right now.
Less a manifesto than a working note — the problems, questions and themes I'm spending the most time on right now.
Current focus
Building Bertie well
Most of my time goes into product, company building and making sure we're solving the right problems in the right order.
I care a lot about systems that remain clear as they grow. That applies to software, teams, internal communication and the story the company tells about itself.
Understanding the shape of modern insurance infrastructure
I'm especially interested in the layers beneath the visible workflow — where data turns into decisions, where process turns into friction, and where the right tooling can make a disproportionate difference.
Thinking seriously about AI
Not AI as theatre. AI as a practical tool.
I'm most interested in where it can reduce manual handling, structure messy information and support better decisions — without weakening the controls that actually matter.
Writing more
I want this site to become a useful home for essays on insurance, software and regulated-market product design. Writing is one of the best ways I know to sharpen thinking.
Questions I am thinking about
What would a genuinely modern insurance operating model actually look like?
Where are the highest-friction transitions in the quote-to-bind journey?
How should AI be introduced into trust-sensitive workflows without adding hidden risk?
Which operational problems are truly structural, and which ones are symptoms of weak system design?
Open to
I'm always happy to hear from:
- operators in insurance who have a strong point of view on workflow pain
- founders building adjacent infrastructure
- people thinking carefully about AI in regulated markets
- great potential hires with unusually high standards
Not especially interested in
Chasing trends for their own sake.
I would much rather work on something durable than something merely fashionable.
